Worcester Accountants to Sponsor & Mentor County’s Newest European Golf Pro

Bishop Fleming Rabjohns’ ex rugby professional will handle Jamie Dunster’s finances, and provide advice on being a “sports pro”

Ally McLaughlin, a former professional rugby player with Worcester Warriers, will be handling the financial affairs of Worcestershire’s newest European Tour golf professional – and providing sports mentoring advice.

This is the unique sponsorship deal struck by Worcester-based accountants, Bishop Fleming Rabjohns, with Jamie Dunster, the 25-year-old member of Worcestershire Golf Club who has turned professional and joined the European golf circuit.

The three-year sponsorship provides Jamie Dunster with both the accountancy and professional sports skills of Ally McLaughlin, who has worked as a business services manager at Bishop Fleming Rabjohns’ Worcester office since 2007, specialising in providing sole-traders and small businesses with full accounts and tax services.

“The last thing that Jamie needs, as he launches his professional golfing career, is having to worry about his accounts and dealing with the taxman, so we’ll deal with all that”, said Ally McLaughlin.

But Ally will also be available to Jamie as a personal mentor, to help handle the pressure of being a young professional sportsman in a highly competitive field.

“It is probably a unique example of an accountant providing sporting guidance, but I know from my own experience how a young sports professional can benefit from some guidance on handling the pressures.  I was lucky, because rugby is a team game, so I had others in the team to help guide me:  golf is a solitary game, so Jamie will be on his own”, Ally explained.

“I just hope that Jamie will spare a moment to help me improve my golf”, he added.
