Rabjohns Director authors national work on Tax Investigations

A Director from Worcester-based accountancy and tax firm Rabjohns LLP has been selected to author a national work on HMRC Tax Investigations

Will Silsby was approached by CCH, the UK’s leading provider of information, software and services for accountants, tax practitioners and financial professionals, to author the section on HMRC Enquiries for its innovative online product Consult CCH Tax Workflow. The product is due to go live this week.

Consult CCH Tax Workflow is CCH's unique new workflow tool designed for accountancy professionals which steps the user through a reliable framework for performing essential tax advisory activities.

Will is exceptionally well qualified to write on this subject having over 38 years experience of work in tax, 6 of which were as an Inspector of Taxes for the Inland Revenue. He is also a fee paid member of the Tax Chamber in the First-tier Tribunal  (the body that hears appeals by taxpayers against HMRC decisions) and a former chairman of the Severn Valley branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Silsby said, ‘Tax law is complex and subject to frequent change. Whilst traditional reference works give detailed interpretation, tax practitioners frequently need something that aids their thought process and focuses quickly on particular client situations. This is particularly true in relation to all the complications that can arise in HMRC enquiries.  The new penalty regime can be a real headache for advisers.’

Consult CCH Tax Workflow addresses the user’s need by providing a uniquely structured approach which includes an audit trail to a particular decision. In this way, it saves the user unnecessary research time and enables them to deliver solutions to their clients with confidence and cost-saving.’

Venita Machnicki at CCH said, ‘We approached Will to act as author because of his expert knowledge in the subject of Tax Investigations. There are few individuals in the UK that are as well qualified as Will’.
