Entrepreneurs of the future receive support from local accountants

Herefordshire and Worcestershire business leaders of the future are ‘crunching the numbers’ with help from Young Enterprise and Worcester-based business and tax advice firm Rabjohns LLP.

Rabjohns have been supporters and sponsors of Young Enterprise since 1998 when Rabjohns Chairman, Ian Smith, joined the South Worcestershire Area Board. Ian has also been Deputy Chairman for the last few years.

Young Enterprise is the UK's largest business and enterprise education charity which has a variety of programmes giving children of different ages the experience of "learning by doing".

Young Enterprise programmes offer students direct experience of enterprise through working together to run their own real company. Every year Rabjohns provide training for Finance Directors of these companies, Business Advisers and sponsorship and support.

Each company is judged on its performance by a panel of local professionals. This year the South Worcestershire Area judges were led by Claire MacLean, headmistress of Tudor Grange Academy Worcester.

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Area Finals, to announce the overall 2010 county winner, were held at the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford on 4th May and were hosted by Ian Smith.

The judges chose Inspired, a team from RGS Worcester, as the overall Winner. Their Finance Director, Katherine Elliott, also walked away with the Rabjohns Finance Director of the year award. Inspired have designed, manufactured and sold Aromatherapy machines.

They will now go on to represent the county at the West Midlands finals at Birmingham University on Friday 18th June.

Ian Smith commented, "The students really are inspirational. Their enthusiasm for business and their presentation skills are humbling for those of us with too many grey hairs. They really do give you hope that if they can be unleashed as entrepreneurs then UK plc will do well."

"Young Enterprise is a brilliant organisation for developing our own people as well and I would encourage all local businesses to support Young Enterprise with the provision of Business Advisers. They grow so much through the experience."
