David heads the Bishop Fleming Rabjohns Corporate Finance team and as a Client Director he looks after a portfolio of owner managed businesses. He is an experienced non executive director and often chairs, attends or facilitates clients' regular board meetings.

David's specialist areas include:

  • High Street banking, financing and financial structure of SMEs, including the support of struggling business, and their negotiations with funders and the banks' business support teams.
  • The management and profitability of professional practices. David is a Law Society accredited Lexcel consultant.
  • Strategic planning for SMEs and advising, coaching and supporting SME owner managers; often in a non executive director capacity.
  • Corporate and commercial finance, business sales, mergers, and acquisitions.

A Welshman educated in Wales; Institute of Bankers' qualified since 1985 and a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Services, David was 28 years with Barclays, leaving in 2002 to become a partner of Bishop Fleming Rabjohns.

He is a non executive director of Malvern Hills Science Park Ltd and part of the Strategic Council for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.

Much of David's banking career was spent in close involvement with owner managed businesses. He has led corporate banking teams, been a corporate banker and sat on the other side of the credit fence as a risk analyst and credit manager. He is an experienced technical, credit assessment and management skills trainer and coach - work which took him to Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. He has led change and project management functions; all this in the real banking world, not the rarefied atmosphere of Big Bank Boardrooms (he says!).

David is married with two daughters and lives in Malvern. His personal interests include tennis, squash (hips & knees permitting), travel, technology, cooking, motorbikes, old properties and keeping the garden under some sort of control (a slash and disposal policy, rather than green-fingered). He still misses the sea and sailing off the South Wales coast - which "enjoys" the second highest tidal range in the world (behind Nova Scotia!). There are not many UK locations more distant from the sea than Malvern.
